Privacy Policy for Semicolon

Semicolon (“the app”) is built to run entirely on your device. This policy explains, plainly, what that means.
The short version
We don’t collect your data. There’s no account, no server, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs in the app. Your progress lives on your phone or iPad, and only there.
What the app stores, and where
Semicolon stores the following, locally on your device only, using Apple’s standard on-device storage (SwiftData and UserDefaults):
- Course progress — which lessons you’ve completed, your XP, streaks, and achievement history.
- Preferences — settings like whether sound effects are on and your preferred programming language for parametrized courses.
- Purchase status — whether you’ve bought Semicolon Pro, so the app can unlock your courses without asking Apple every time.
None of this ever leaves your device. We don’t have a server, so there is nothing for us to send it to even if we wanted to.
Purchases
If you buy Semicolon Pro, that purchase is handled entirely by Apple’s StoreKit. Semicolon never sees your payment details — Apple processes the transaction and tells the app only whether you own Pro. See Apple’s own privacy policy for how Apple itself handles purchase and payment data.
Analytics, ads, and tracking
There are none. Semicolon does not use any analytics framework, does not show ads, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Third-party services
Semicolon has no third-party dependencies and makes no network requests. Everything — lesson content, exercises, the concept manual — is bundled inside the app itself.
Children’s privacy
Semicolon does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information from anyone. There is no account creation, no data entry beyond your answers to practice exercises (which stay on-device), and no way for the app to identify you.
Deleting your data
Because everything is stored locally, deleting the app deletes your data. There is no account to close and no data retained on our end, because none was ever collected.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of Semicolon adds a feature that does communicate with a server — we’ll update this page and the effective date above before that feature ships.
