About Me

Hi. I’m James Ashley. I work out of Atlanta, Georgia.

I am a freelance AR/VR consultant specializing in HoloLens and Kinect. I come out of the agency world and previously worked at Razorfish Emerging Experiences, where I developed custom installations for companies like AT&T, Delta, Dr. Scholl’s, Audi and Microsoft.

I’m also a Microsoft MVP. Over the years I’ve been in the Client App Dev, Kinect and Emerging Experiences MVP programs.

In 2012 I wrote the book Beginning Kinect Programming for Apress. It was the first book published about Kinect development and sits on the bookshelves of most creators working in emerging technologies today. (I’ve been riding that accomplishment for five years, though, so it’s probably time to start doing something new.)

I am currently among the top 10 answerers on the Microsoft HoloLens forums, where HoloLens developers go to get their technical questions answered.

I run the Atlanta HoloLens Meetup and work closely with Microsoft in Atlanta to promote and explain this transformative technology.

I also run the HoloLens Challenge on the Facebook HoloLens Developers page, where I am a moderator.

I am available for HoloLens work. Contact me here.
